In this age of digital products and wide spread social networking it comes as no surprise that consumers are turning more and more to money transfers as a way to pay others in their lives for goods and services, as well as way to send money to friends and family members in need. The Western Union Company has become a global leader in the money transfer market and is looking to expand their share of the market by engaging in joint ventures with a variety of banks. Their product offerings will be expanded when they take on a new partner in the form of Fifth Third Bank, a bank that will help them reach a bigger share of the walk in consumers they serve so often. The Firth Third banking centers will be operating in 12 different states and give users more retail product options that might not be available in all other locations. The states being served now are Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois and West Virginia. This expands Western Union’s reach and shows that its money transfer product can grow.

By expanding into banking operations, Western Union positions itself where consumers are already going to handle their money issues and this means added convenience for those looking to be able to move money more efficiently. This expansion should help cash flow more readily through the financial grid and give consumers more choices with the way they spend and send their own cash.
